Naples, May 13, 2025 — Today, at the Foqus Foundation in the Spanish Quarters, the journalistic investigation by Fanpage.it into the death of Mario Paciolla was presented. Mario was a Neapolitan aid worker found dead in Colombia in 2020 while working on a United Nations mission. The event, titled “The Mario Paciolla Case,” was attended by Mario’s parents, Anna Motta and Pino Paciolla, the author of the investigation Antonio Musella, local politicians and members of parliament, numerous journalists, as well as many activists and supporters of Mario Paciolla’s cause.
During the event, the family reiterated their appeal for the investigation into Mario’s death not to be closed. According to Fanpage.it, the family maintains that Mario was murdered and that the crime scene was altered—his personal belongings were removed and the room was cleaned with bleach by UN officials who were present.
The Fanpage.it investigation highlighted several inconsistencies and omissions in the official inquiries, further fueling doubts about the suicide narrative. The family, along with their lawyer Alessandra Ballerini, continues to demand truth and justice for Mario, stressing the importance of not closing the case and continuing the investigation so that the homicide theory—linked to his UN mission—can be properly considered.
The event was a moment of solidarity and renewed commitment from civil society to support the Paciolla family’s cause, in order to shed full light on Mario’s tragic death and to identify any possible responsibilities.
